a typical day

There is no such thing as a ´typical day´ here at ´Les Tilleuls´ - the key is informality and flexibility. Each of our guests has individual needs and preferences and every effort is made to accommodate these in a relaxed, unstructured atmosphere. The following serves simply to give you a flavour of what a day may hold.

Perhaps you might like to start off with an invigorating swim; perhaps with a brisk run or a gentle walk in the beautiful countryside surrounding ´Les Tilleuls´ - or you may prefer a lie-in. Breakfast is a casual, help-yourself affair so there is really no time restriction.

It will have been discussed with Pilates guests the previous evening at what time you will have your intensive private/semi-private studio session, allowing you to plan the rest of your day - or not, as the mood takes you!.  (The only other possible ´planned´ element would be should you have chosen to pre-book a spoiling massage therapy in-house at ´Les Tilleuls´ or perhaps pre-arranged to do a specific scheduled activity, such as horse-riding or golf.)

There is so much to see and do in this fascinating area that the day will never be long enough. If you have hired a car and enjoy sight-seeing, the intriguing historic places to be explored are many and varied. If walking is your passion, the endless well-marked paths offer panoramic views and are wonderfully peaceful. There are also bicycles here for guests to use and, if you are a ´serious´ cyclist, we can arrange cycle hire during the summer months.

Fancy a spot of wine-tasting? Local vineyards are small, family-run affairs that welcome visitors year-round and are delighted to share their wisdom. And surely no visit during the months of June, July and August would be complete without a visit to the nearby lavender farm - a true sensory delight, with hand-made products, lavender cream teas and charming, knowledgeable hosts, passionate about their lovingly-created business.

Most days of the week one can find a picturesque market to visit and throughout the year there are many brocantes and fêtes to be found. Certainly on Sundays a visit to the colourful, bustling market in the delightful local bastide town of Cazals is a must.

But then again, there is always the option to do absolutely nothing......curl up on the sofa in front of the fire in winter or stretch out next to the pool in summer, with a good book in one hand and a drink in the other.......bliss!

Lunch is enjoyed outdoors at ´Les Tilleuls´ when weather permits and, on cooler days, we eat in the warm, welcoming kitchen. Likewise, evening aperitifs are savoured outside whenever possible (which is often!) or in front of the blazing log fire during the colder months. Whether it be on the terrace or in the sumptuous drawing room, a leisurely, candle-lit dinner follows. The accent is on simply prepared, locally-sourced produce, complemented by delicious local wines. Sometimes dinner will be a typical regional menu enjoyed at the local auberge (all guest will enjoy at least one restaurant meal).

In summary, there is the option to fill your day with activity or simply to relax in the seductive ambience of ´Les Tilleuls´. The choice is yours!
